This is a non-fiction book meant for, the title is a dead giveaway, authors, and as such I really enjoyed reading it seeing I’m an author. But I’m also a book blogger and I was impressed with how accurate this author, she doesn’t think she is, but this little book has just proven her wrong, can spin a yarn, a non-fictional one.
She gives authors the perfect insight in the book blogger’s psyche, as well as tips on how to befriend us and make the most of that friendship.
Her way of repeating certain things is done in a way to drive the message home and never feels pushy or over the top. Instead her way of steering authors toward a more personal approach of us bloggers was a much needed thing. As is the chapter she devoted to the reviews which are left by us, the book bloggers, and how authors should handle those, even if they are not what they hoped for.
All in all, a book every author should read before trying their luck on the book bloggers trail.

I remembered being a part of Barb’s survey and had wondered what happened with the data she had collected, but I had no idea that she was able to collect enough to create this informational book for authors. As soon as I heard that she had compiled it into a guide for authors, I went and bought a copy right away.
This guide is not only a great tool for authors, but book bloggers as well. I found that the information was presented in an easy to understand and logical order. It was very straight forward and pretty much summed up what I think book bloggers everywhere are hoping to get across to authors.
We book bloggers love working with authors and publishers, but sometimes the ways we communicate are not clear. I think Barb’s book will help to guide authors and bloggers in the best way to accomplish the promotion of our favourite books.
I loved how she incorporated many of the comments from the book bloggers surveyed. You actually get to see what we think about so many topics. This book is going to be a great resource for authors

As an independent writer wading through the muck of trying to use social media to build my platform, I found this book very helpful. It is a good resource and I am glad that I read it. Thank you for the info!!

This is a great resource for authors. The book is filled with advice and resources. Self publishing can be overwhelming and the author does a fantastic drop of helping new (and experienced) authors navigate the world of book bloggers. I am anxious to read more in this series.

And let’s face it, we all need to learn the basics. The writing in this book is functional, but the goal of this book isn’t to impress you with its style. The purpose of this book is to help you learn the basics of connecting with and building relationships with bloggers who might just help you sell a few books. This book is more than a “how to”; it’s also a social media etiquette guide. I recommend it highly.

Ms. Drozdowich has done a wonderful job of taking all of the questions I have ever had about approaching a book blogger and plopped them all into one very well written book. Through the use of research (I’m a scientist so I like this aspect very much) and her own experiences as a book blogger, this book was born. Ms. Drozdowich has now become an author and I’m sure that by utilizing her own advice she’ll rise to the top of the book charts. She breaks down how to approach a book blogger by telling us what they like and don’t like, which is pertinent information for us authors. If you’re a new author, get this book, it will guide and light your now darkened path. For older authors who need an extra tip or two on how to get into the good graces of book bloggers, then this book is for you, too.

I read Barb’s book as part of her blog tour. As a writer, I was excited to get it! Authors are always eager to garner those coveted bloggers to review their books. Right away, I was taken by Barb’s easy, friendly style. It was obvious that she knew what she was talking about. Barb speaks frankly and with great practicality as to what the author needs to do to stand out from that dreaded “slush pile.” Barb’s book is short and to-the-point. I highly recommend it to authors across the genres.

In today’s rapidly changing, highly competitive publishing industry authors need all the help they can get. And to her credit, Barb Drozdowich has done all authors, including us mystery authors, an incredible favor, empowering us with her knowledge, wisdom and experience.
With the publishing of her new book, The Author’s Guide to Working with Book Bloggers, Barb dons a new hat–that of the Rock Stars she describes so eloquently. More importantly, she has written a seminal work that belongs in every author and aspiring author’s library. It sits in a prominent place on my book marketing references shelf–now, my primary book blogger reference. I highly recommend The Author’s Guide to Working with Book Bloggers – Building Blocks to Author Success Series (Book One) to all authors serious about commercial success.

Although it is purely focused on the author versus the blogger; the blogger can use this book to sharpen their services. Knowing where is the gaps and giving a better service to the author. For the author, this is excellent advice and a very informative tool to use to market your book; you have worked on it with diligence therefor you need to be diligent in your marketing as well. Knowing what to look for or the questions you need to ask in order to get the best service available for your book. It’s methodical in it’s approach, giving all the answers you will need to approach an blogger in the correct manner and ultimately sell books at the end. I loved that she emphasized that the author is in a relationship business. I can totally agree with this statement, therefor your presences on the social network is of the utmost importance. Through blogging you create a relationship with your readers, which will buy and talk about your book at the end of the day.

I read this book a few months back and have been holding off on reviewing it until I had a chance to actually work with it a bit. I’m a debut novelist whose book will be out this coming April and I know it behooves me to help promote it by reaching out to book bloggers. But how does one do that exactly? I can say honestly that this book has helped me in my early efforts to navigate the book blog landscape. The book is clearly written, and the information provide is up-to-date, directly useful and concrete. To give a personal example–the fact that blogs that are swamped with books to review are open to running interviews with authors and articles by them, was new to me. Would I have figured this out by myself? I’d like to think so—eventually–but I didn’t have to, and it has made a difference that I knew this out of the gate. There many other useful nuggets in the book. It’s written by a blogger in the field of romantic fiction but what it says is applicable across genres. She has surveyed other book bloggers and drawn on survey results as well as her own experience. A boon to new authors–highly recommended!

I will be self-publishing 3 books in November and December, and I have been searching out book bloggers to garner some reviews. This book really helped me understand blogging from the bloggers perspective, and I believe it will make a difference in my success in obtaining reviews. Thanks for the great information.
Michael C. Ray
Much of this is common sense, but for an author looking for promotion from book bloggers, it’s great to have all this information consolidated in one place. It’s a great overview when you’re getting ready for your own publicity campaign. Clear and easy to understand, it’s a very quick read — the second half is mostly just raw data from the author’s survey of book bloggers, so that part is pretty skimmable and a bit repetitive. But overall this is more than worth the cost, considering the time you’d spend Googling to come up with this advice on your own. Recommended for all authors.

A book like this needed to be written. Now there’s no excuse for authors not to know what a guest post or a blog tour is. Barb covers basic topics like what to look for when making a Query to the “Etiquette of the Blogosphere” and Social Media. Nowadays authors promote themselves. They must have a guide to help them through it. “The Author’s Guide To Working With Book Bloggers” them a great insight on what to expect from the interaction with bloggers, how to make this partnership valuable for both sides and understand the book blogger’s perspective. Very informative and reliable. Very informative and reliable, An instructive tool for authors.

This popped up on my Twitter feed today, and as we’re beginning our approach to book bloggers for reviews of The Long Way, I figured it was worth a look. I’m not disappointed. It’s basically a common sense overview of things you need to know, but it’s nice to have it all consolidated into one easy to read book. It’s a good review for the beginning of any author’s promotional campaign. The book is the result of a survey that Drozdowich sent out to her fellow book bloggers. It’s nice to get a realistic look at some of the numbers that authors are up against — in particular the overwhelming amount of book review requests that the average blogger receives each month, and the size of the “to read” piles on their desks. If you’re an author looking to promote your work, check it out. It’s at least worth previewing on your Kindle before deciding whether to drop a few bucks

Authors, if you can, read this book before you read anything else. It is packed with useful information and, after it is read, becomes a great reference guide. All I can say is I wish I had read this sooner. The author of this book did a terrific job in writing this book. It creates mutual respect between authors and Book Bloggers. The author of this book has a certain amount of awe in respect to writers. I have a certain amount of awe for the Book Blogger and could never write the lengthy reviews they do. Book Bloggers put a lot of work into what they do, though I know it’s a hobby they do for fun.

I have learned a mountain of indispensable information for authors. It would be impossible for me to acquire all this knowledge by rummaging about the web. Great job!

I found this self-help book for authors to be quite informative. With a lot of books going the way of the e-book along with self-publishing; it is really a whole different market out there. Things aren’t done the same as when you have your book in print.
Ms. Drozdowich shows us how to navigate the world of blogging/social networking/media to make it work for the author. Showing or rather helping to guide us on the path to success. With everything going cyber now it makes it nice to know how to add these types of marketing skills to our repertoire which helps us to get our books out there and noticed and read.
Pretending I didn’t know anything about this area I found that this book gave us the basics to help us on our way. It was written on a very basic level making it easy for the novice to understand; but also not so basic that the seasoned writer couldn’t go back to refresh the ever changing world of technology.
I find we all need a little assistance from time to time in doing things the proper way to help eliminate the stress which helps to alleviate the pain of rejection. The information that Ms. Drozdowich collected is very efficient in helping with e-books and self-publishing. She shows that it is very important for the authors to build relationships with our readers through social media as this makes us more real and personable.
I found this book to be very forthright, with no fillers, easy to understand and easy to reference. I think every author should have this in their private library to refer to from time to time. Blogging is important to keep in touch with the reader after all they are the ones who buy your books, read your books and in the end refer them and talk about them to friends, family and co-workers which mean more sales.

I think this book is brilliant as it is short, gives you easy to understand explanations and many, many useful tips on how to approach book blogs and bloggers. It also advises you well on what to make your mind up about when you decide to use book blogs as a promotional tool for your book. It is logically structured and gives you an overview over book blogs and book bloggers, in general, about queries, giveaways, interviews, cover reveals and much more.
However, I am a book blogger myself so much of her information is already known to me. I have to say though that all suggestions and tips are down to earth and spot on. Barb Drozdowich has done a survey of fellow book bloggers to find a broader basis for her guide. I doubt you can go wrong if you follow her advice. You certainly would find a spot on my blog if you use her tips and guidance.
And she made me aware of Google Alerts, which I didn’t know yet, and it already has helped me. So thank you very much Barb!
The readership this book is aimed for are those authors who have no idea yet about how blogs and the internet works. If you as an author are a blogger yourself then a lot in this book is already known to you. This book is a must if you are an author looking into promoting your book via blogs and have no idea how they or the internet work. If you are a blogger, much of the information is known to you but it still gives you some more ideas on how to make your blog a better place for authors. All in all a great read and excellent guide!

I found this interesting and helpful. The author’s coming from a loving place. She’s a book-blogger and she wants to help authors to help book-bloggers. She gets huge virtual hugs from me for having done some original research by surveying a very large sample of her ilk and sharing the results with us. I suspect many other people have made more money than her off the back of her research. It’s a quick and useful read. We should all be grateful that there are people like Barb who help make the world go round for all of us by making a real and original contribution.

This is pretty much required reading if you’re an author who needs to learn how to market yourself – Barb covers all the key topics, from cover reveals and reviews to guest posts, giveaways and more. I picked up some tips, and I work in marketing!

This book could not have come at a better time. In the midst of a blog makeover and rethinking the theme for my blog, Barb Drozdowich has some fantastic pointers for both authors and bloggers. Contents are spread out so pointers are easily understood and because a large part of this book is based on feedback from other bloggers you know that you can learn from other people’s experiences.
Where authors are concerned, it covers a key area of querying book bloggers. From my own experience, many authors send out mass emails to book bloggers without reading the review policy of the blog which in my book is a big no. Barb breaks down the query process and I like that the book covers areas beyond receiving reviews from a book blogger.
It focuses on long-term relationships between authors and book bloggers which is a fantastic way for authors to build their own review team for upcoming releases.
Would I recommend this read? This book is a must read for any author of any level and any genre. For a book blogger, this book also functions as a guide on what to expect and what standards to set.

This is the second book by Barb Drozdowich that I have purchased. I find her writing style easy to read and humorous. The information she provides is invaluable and has helped me immensely. I would recommend this book to anyone with a love for writing!
Dana Pharant
I love the straight forward to the expoing style of the author. The information was really helpful without unnecessary fluff.
Quick read with exactly what you need. Thanks.
Only slightly negative thing would be the contradiction of her saying as an author a visually appealing cover helps to attract bloggers, while the cover art on this book almost stopped me from buying
Bryan the Writer
I’m an author/writer and if there’s one thing that will make me run under my bed and hide, it’s the word “marketing”. It’s true. Just typing this word made me run for the relative calm of my bedroom, shut the door, and draw the curtains. It’s a topic that most writers don’t understand and admit they never will. Fortunately, there’s help. Enter the blogger.
Sitting quietly in their basement, office, kitchen, or library, they tirelessly read and write about reading. The good news is that they’re here for you and I. An untapped resource which can spread the word of your wonderful works to the world. They are tool to use as a marketing strategy and the only thing they ask is a little bit of your time. The bad news is that in order to access them, you are going to have to do a little homework. That’s where Barb Drozdowich can help.
I picked up “The Author’s Guide to Working with Book Bloggers” on a recommendation posted on a writer’s Facebook group. I am so glad I did.
The book is well written and logically laid out. There were no less than three things I used immediately. While it’s still a long row to hoe for me to become a success, I sincerely feel that Barb’s book is a powerful weapon to add to my arsenal.
She seems to understand what both the author and the blogger want and need. She understands both points of view and lays them out for you. The book itself isn’t long and is really a quick read. I read it for an hour a day and I think it took three days total. She uses humor and examples to really drive home her points.
My recommendation to anyone reading this book would be to keep a pen and paper handy because you are going to want to take notes. Either way, pick up a copy of this book. You’ll be glad you did.
